I collect, store and use clients’ and potential clients’ personal data for the following reasons only:

• To provide a translation or editing service
• To issue an invoice
• To comply with legal requirements

What personal data do I collect?

Personal data collected may include your:

• Postal address
• Email address
• Telephone number
• Tax ID

If you send me personal documents such as birth or medical certificates that contain special categories of personal data such as health information, then that data will also be collected and stored, but only for the specific purpose of issuing a quotation or translating the documents.

I will not use any of your personal data for marketing purposes.

What is the legal basis for processing your data?

The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the services you request or to take necessary steps prior to fulfilling that request (‘performance of a contract’).

The legal basis for processing the special categories of personal data described above is your explicit consent for me to translate, revise or edit that information (‘consent’).

Who else may receive your personal data?

I won’t pass on your data to any other translators without your permission.

For administrative purposes, other parties, including the providers of my cloud backup, website and email hosting services, may have access to your personal data. All these parties are compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, or in the case of US companies, are self-certified under the US Privacy Shield framework.

How long do I keep your personal data?

I will keep your personal data for 10 years unless you ask me to delete it sooner.

How do I protect your data?

I take all possible precautionary measures to guarantee that your personal data is safeguarded. These include updating my computers and devices regularly, having anti-virus software and firewalls installed, and using securely stored back-ups and password protection.

What are your rights?

You may contact me at any time to request that I remove all of your personal data contained in my files. I will do so without undue delay, and certainly no later than one month following receipt of the removal request.

What about cookies?

My website does not use cookies.
